Beach Master
Sifu Gorden Lu
By Kent Kelley
Anyone familiar with martial arts will no doubt be familiar with the name Bruce Lee. Bruce is the most famous martial artist in recent history. His speed and technique are legendary. His movies are unsurpassed in action and fighting. True icons of
“karate flicks” as they are colloquially known throughout the western world.
Bruce’s extreme martial arts ability can be traced back to one man.
Yip Man. Bruce’s teacher.
Yip Man is the Grand Master of Wing Chun Kung Fu. A southern style of Chinese kung fu that is considered to be “the science of fighting.” Wing Chun incorporates the elements of physics and geometry to dominate and incapacitate the opponent regardless of size or strength. Economy of motion, explosive power and simultaneous cover/attack are the hallmarks of Wing Chun. more »

Unlike most twelve year olds, instead of being interested in video games, I was interested in Martial Arts. Before I started going to Wing Chun Kung Fu class I went to another type of Martial Arts. So far I’ve been going to Wing Chun for a little over a year, and I love it. Two other people in my family also take classes with me; this is how I was introduced to Wing Chun. The two people are my father and my uncle. My uncle and father would work out every Sunday, during those times I had nothing really to do, so I watched them. Every time I watched them I became more and more eager to practice with them. more »Monday, June 29

Enlargement of the Wing Chun Ip (Yip) Family
Sifu Ip Man has been a legendary figure in Wing Chun circles for decades. Credit for his and the system’s recognition, now worldwide, must be given to his students, his son, Sifu Ip Chun, and his nephew, Sifu Lo Man Kam. It was the destiny of Sifu Ip and Sifu Lo to learn Wing Chun from their youth. Great talents appear in successive generations of the Ip family. Lu (Lo), Gorden, son of Sifu Lo Man Kam, also inherited the Wing Chun tradition from his family, and grew up regarding the propagation of Wing Chun as his life’s mission. These individuals exerted great efforts in promoting Wing Chun Kung Fu, also conducting seminars and attracting students in many countries around the planet. When Sifu Gorden was a child, he was exposed to his father’s frequent discussion of Wing Chun techniques with the students. Thus, he grew up aware of the power of Wing Chun in hitting fast and with deadly accuracy in a short distance. He was amazed when he witnessed the skillful technique and the change of footwork in the seniors’ practice........ more »

Chi sao (sticking hands ) is an unique exercise that only Wing Chun has other martial arts don't have. Chi sao is the heart of Wing Chun. It prepares the students for fighting by developing and increasing their skills of covering, contact feeling, reaction, distance, strategy and other more. That is why to be an instructor on learning "how to teach" Chi sao and "Lead Chi sao" are very important in the entire Wing Chun training process. more »
